Appassimento “Passione Reale” IGT

Wine Type: Red Wine

Country: Italy

Region: Puglia

Grapes: Blend of estate grown Primitivo and Nero di Troia

Winery Tasting Notes: Grapes are harvested late, after slight drying on the vine. Colour is deep ruby red with purple glints verging on garnet. Aroma is intense with a full, fragrant and spicy bouquet. Taste is balanced, full – bodied, enwrapping, with slight sweet notes.

Food Pairings: Roasted and grilled red meat, mature cheeses.

Aging: Aged in steel for 8 months, then in bottle.

James Suckling:Ripe red berries with some pungent mineral notes on the nose. Full- to medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel at first, then some firm fine tannin towards the end. Persistent, spicy fruit and mineral flavors and a hint of cocoa in the aftertaste. A little out of the ordinary. Interesting wine. Drink now.”

International Wine Report: “The 2021 Passione Reale, Appassimento offers aromatics of ripe dark cherries and blueberries which are accented by sweet spices, herbs and dried flowers. On the palate this is medium to medium-full bodied, velvety and round, delivering a mouthful of ripe dark berries, raisin and floral character, which all lead up to the soft, seamless finish. This is already drinking beautifully and should continue to evolve nicely over the next few years.”
