Castelli del Grevepesa

Castelgreve Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG

Wine Type: Red Wine

Country: Italy

Region: Toscana

Grapes: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot

Winery Tasting Notes: This wine, mostly Sangiovese grape, greets the eye with a very intense ruby red color. It opens with a complex and elegant bouquet, with nuance of mature fruits and vanilla. Soft on the palate, well balanced with persistent aftertaste. Aged in big oak casks for 18 months.

Food Pairings: Grilled meat, t-bone steak, game recipes and ripe cheeses.

Wine Enthusiast: “Fresh cherries and orange zest on the nose are contrasted with the metallic, earthy tones of fresh dirt and wild herbs. The palate adds more berries with a bit of chocolate, marked by chalky tannins.”

Decanter: “Purposeful dark fruit, crusty bread and nutmeg aromas on the nose. Honest and nicely delineated palate with a lovely finish.”

James Suckling: “Blackberry and dark-cherry aromas with some walnuts and dried flowers. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins and solid fruit. Plenty going on. A year or two of bottle age will put it in an even better place. Drinkable now, but better in 2024.”
